Udaipur, located in the midst of Aravalli Ranges, is popularly known as the City Of Lakes, for it has five gorgeous lakes within the city, namely Lake Pichola, Fateh Sagar Lake, Swaroop Sagar Lake, Udai Sagar Lake and Goverdhan Sagar Lake. Udaipur, the historic capital of the former kingdom of Mewar in Rajputana Agency, was founded by Maharana Udai Singh II, in 1568 after losing the fort of Chittorgarh to Mughal Emperor Akbar. Historians say that Udai Singh was advised by a god man, to lay the foundation stone of this picturesque city on the banks of the lovely Lake Pichola and the lake of Fatehsagar, and thus Udaipur came into existence. |

By Train: It is directly connected to and from all the major cities of India such as Chittrogarh, Ajmer, Jaipur and Delhi by trains. The railway station is 4 km from the heart of the city.
By Road: The roads are smooth and link Udaipur to various major cities of India such as Delhi, Jaipur, Chittrogarh, Ahmadabad, Ajmer, Indore, Kota, Mount Abu and Mumbai. |
