Udaipur Excursions Udaipur, The Lake City of Rajasthan, India, is a perfect destination for a vacation. Known for its lakes, forts and palaces, Udaipur is a favorite among tourists, as it provides a glance of the rich culture and heritage of Rajasthan. A few of the most popular excursions spots close to Udaipur that are not affordable to be missed are:

Ranakpur, one of the five holy places for the Jain community, was created in the 15 the century, during the reign of Rana Kumbha. Only 90 km away from the city, it is known for its sculptured Jain temples,
having 29 halls and 1,444 pillars (no two being similar).

Nathdwara, the gateway to the Lord, is nearly 48 km from Udaipur. This temple is one the most revered shrine of Lord Krishna (also known as Nathji ). Thousands of pilgrims visit the shrine during the festivals. But the only thing is that foreigners are not permitted in the temple premises and photography is not allowed here.

Kumbhal Garh Fort, merely 84 km from Udaipur, is the second most important fort after Chittorgarh in the Mewar region, was built by Maharana Kumbha, in the 15th century. Perched at the top of Aravallis, Kumbhal Garh Fort is not easily accessible, as it has seven great gates that stand guarding its entrance. It extends over 12 km and encloses many temples, palaces and gardens.

Jaisamand Lake, only 48 km from Udaipur, a stunning artificial lake built in 17th century by Maharana Jai Singh, is the second largest one in Asia. On the banks of the lake, one can find graceful marble ‘Chhatris’ and beautiful summer palaces of the Udaipur queens. The lake is said to be the home of Jaisamand Lake and Wildlife Sanctuary, possessing a rich wildlife in its natural habitat.
